Not the best of weather
Not the best of weather for an early morning this morning, but at least when you’re coaching it’s not so bad. The second boat is looking pretty good, and is set to get better…
I’ve heard from Arthur Anderson regarding my UK tax return. They’re going to give me an idea of how much US tax I’m going to have to pay, which I think will make things easier..
I’m now about to start on my progress report for my project, having just satisfied a curiosity about the origins port and starboard (nautical terms and phrases).
Again a bit of a
Again a bit of a poor show on the blog front. I’ve just spent a while getting webcam.formalhall.com to archive every five minutes. Probably something to look back at.
The weekend came and went. Good fun curry at the Bengal on Saturday and a veritable night of alcohol consumption followed. Woke up on Sunday morning with an awful hangover and food poisoning. Sick all day long.
Circuits yesterday followed by my first run of the term has left my body aching. But I’m feeling pretty fit all the same. Going out for dinner with Lauren tonight to celebrate our two-year anniversary (yesterday).
Good meal at the Dome
Good meal at the Dome as always. Seems Ed Pain wants to row this term. Timely as always, but certainly an asset.
I’ve had a thorough overhaul of formalhall.com this evening. It’s in a far more manageable state now. Just need to get some more pictures coming in…
Not wanting to get behind again, I’ve just made the trivial purchase of apoakley.com. I’m sure it’ll be useful one day…
My entire day yesterday seemed
My entire day yesterday seemed to revolve around a the certain 7 minutes of my erg test. A result of 6:47 represents a PB, and I’m quite happy.
As I sit here now trying to organise seat racing for tomorrow, I’m once again slightly concerned that people aren’t going to be entirely reliable in turning up tomorrow.
Planning to watch Apollo 13 starting in about 10 minutes. A good film as I recall.
I've been a bit quiet
I’ve been a bit quiet on the blog from recently.
Tuesday night was Bob’s "birthday", and a thoroughly entertaining evening. Just formal hall, the bar and plenty of alcohol.
On the rowing front, everyone seems to be getting injured or ill, which is bad. Everyone is doing an erg tests, and the results range from scarily pleasing to outright disgraceful. James got 6:50 which is certainly setting a standard for me to follow. Denis was at a wine tasting last night, and plans to his today as well.
I’ve got loads done on my project in the past couple of days and I think I’ll be looking to start writing it up fairly soon.
Seems the CUDN has been
Seems the CUDN has been locked down to outside ftp access. A quick workaround still allows be to write my thoughts…
The outing went well this
The outing went well this morning. Had a good breakfast in caff and lectures. It seems that Ross Anderson is still ill, so we’ve still not started Security.
Watched Neighbours over lunch for the first time in months, nice to see not much has changed there…
Off to circuits in a moment, but I think tomorrow I will go and buy a scanner. Impulse buy.
Saturday passed without much to
Saturday passed without much to comment on. I rose in a leisurely fashion at about 15.00 and played some of Flight Simulator 2000 (which indeed I had bought the day previous). As 18.00 approached, a CUCBC captains meeting loomed. Boring as usual, but at least Denis is allowed to row. Had dinner in PizzaHut and then found the evening gone.
This morning I have managed to find a sub for this afternoon’s outing, and that is it. It’s going to be yet another one of those days lost to rowing unfortunately…
Sent an e-mail to the
Sent an e-mail to the formidable Chris Rodrigues about Mays coaching this evening. Yet to hear back.
Off to bed now to prepare for the week of early morning ahead…
This morning's outing was an
This morning’s outing was an absolute disgrace. I have scratched the crew from the race tomorrow, since it really wasn’t worth the shame.
My Security lecture was cancelled, so I wandered around town for a bit. I think I might buy Flight Simulator 2000 since I’ve now got a computer well worthy of playing it on.
Just sitting here now leafing through Varsity I’ve come across an excellent quotation
The United States, I believe, are under the impression that they are 20 years in advance of Britain; whilst, as a matter of actual veritable fact, they are just about six hours behind it.
Harold Hobson
